About 2 years ago, Linda and I agreed we eventually wanted to move out of the suburbs into a house with a bigger lot, more privacy, and a better setting for entertainment. I also had it in my mind that one day I would build my own house – this seemed like the perfect opportunity. We set out to find a nice lot to build on – and through luck found a perfect spot on the river in Manotick.
We then selected Linda Chapman as our architect. Linda focusses on Eco-friendly, energy efficient designs and is not afraid to break from traditional stick-frame construction. This was important as one of my goals was to build a highly efficient house, using modern systems such as ICF and SIP panels.
